Three days Free Surgical Eye Camp conducted at Kaligandaki Rural Municipality

BM Foundation, which conducted a massive free eye camp in October 2024 in collaboration with the rural municipality, has performed free cataract surgery on 38 people who were found to be in need of cataract surgery on Friday, February 21, 2025.

A total of 2,062 people underwent free eye examinations during the week-long camp that ran from 20 to 26 October, 2024. The camp was organized in collaboration with the rural municipality, Muktinath Bikas Bank, Taiwan Prevent Blindness Foundation, KDC General Hospital, and Himalaya Eye Hospital. Age-related cataracts were detected in 118 people, early senile cataracts in 136 people, and full senile cataracts in 39 people.

The cataract surgery was performed at Kaligandaki Hospital in Mirmi, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-7, with the help of health workers from Himalaya Eye Hospital. 38 people who were found to have cataracts during screening at the camp last October underwent surgery (Friday), and their eye patches were removed on Saturday. All of them underwent successful surgeries.
