A Free Oral Health Screening and Treatment Program was conducted in Biruwa Rural Municipality, covering students and staff from all 35 schools in the municipality. The program was jointly organized by BM Foundation and Biruwa Rural Municipality, with technical support from the medical team of Kantipur Dental College Teaching Hospital and Research Center. Biruwa Rural Municipality is located around 270 kilometers away from Kathmandu and consists of diverse geographical areas. To ensure maximum coverage, the dental team conducted outreach camps at approximately 10 different locations, followed by treatment camps during the final two days. The municipality is home to people from multicultural and mixed cultural backgrounds and is also well known for orange farming. From a health perspective, dental problems were found to be highly prevalent among young children, particularly due to poor oral hygiene practices. In addition to screening and treatment, the team also organized oral health education sessions, where students were educated on proper brushing techniques, good and bad eating habits, and the importance of handwashing to promote overall hygiene and preventive health practices.
